Note: Since this photo was taken and uploaded in 2011, I have since learned that Joseph is actually buried in St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles, IL. According to the cemetery office, Joseph is buried in St. Adalbert, however there was a Joseph P. Machalica buried in Mt. Carmel in 1961, so possibly the internment in Mt. Carmel is his father and an extra memorial stone for Joseph Jr. was placed near the father's grave.
Some additional information about Joseph (provided by a Vietnam KIA grave finder): "PFC, US Army, 11B20 Infantryman. Drafted. B Co, 2nd Bn, 18th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division. Hostile, died of wounds, ground casualty, other explosive device."
